When it comes time to replace your Syncro's fuel level sending unit, you will most likely find that the original mounting brackets have become quite rusty. If they are just too rusty to remove without destroying them, or in too poor of shape to consider reusing them, simply replace them with a set of new stainless steel ones.
These reproductions are proudly made in the USA and last pretty much forever.
